Suryakumar produced another cracker of an innings, scoring unbeaten 61 off just 25 balls studded with 6 fours and 4 sixes that helped India post 186/5. He now has 1020 runs under his belt in 28 innings. His strike rate of 193.96 (minimum 100+ balls faced) is also the highest in the history of the T20 World Cup.
The last five overs yielded as many as 79 runs and bulk of them were scored by the Mumbaikar.
Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan is the other player to have scored more than 1000 runs in a calendar year. He made 1326 runs in 26 innings in 2021.
