DEHRADUN: The Joshimath bachao sangharsh samiti , which has been agitating for the speedy redressal of issues of the ‘sinking town,’ has decided to block the Badrinath yatra on its opening day, days after it agreed to suspend its over 100-day-old protest after meeting CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, reports Gaurav Talwar.
Blaming the state government for “dilly-dallying on the issue,” JBSS members on Sunday said that they will “continue the daily protest and have planned to shut down markets and block vehicular movement when Badrinath’s portals open.” The group met the CM on April 8 during which he had assured to look into their set of 11 demands.
Atul Sati, convener of the group, told TOI, “We decided that till the time we get the minutes of the meeting with the CM and are convinced that our demands are being looked at seriously, we will go ahead with the daily protest and our plan of blocking the yatra. We will suspend the agitation for the next 15 days only if the government pays heed to the matter.”
